It's hard to believe that Caden is already 2 months old! He is growing up so fast. At the same time, though, its hard to remember what our life was like without him. He is occasionally sleeping through the night (from about 11 until 6 or 6:15). He did that twice last week. It is amazing to have that much uninterrupted sleep. Now if only I'd learn to go to bed when I put him down.
He had his 2 month appointment with the pediatrician last Thursday. It ended up being a few days earlier than originally planned because he was having some major spitting up issues. He was spitting up whole mouthfuls...sometimes I wondered if he was even retaining anything that he ate. He was also really fussy. Andy really noticed this when he was gone for a week and a half and came home. Anyways, he has a mild form of Reflux. He is now on Omeprazole (Prilosec) and it seems to be helping. It is a challenge to give it to him though. Unfortunately there is not an infant liquid available. So we have to open the capsule and split the beads inside of it. Then he gets half of the beads each day. To give them to him we have to crush them and then stick them on to his wet pacifier (Good idea Grandaddy!). He makes an awful face and sometimes gags. Hopefully after he starts on cereal in a few months we can mix it in there and the process will be a lot easier. The doctor is not overly concerned because he is still gaining weight. He now weighs 11 lbs. 10 oz. and is 23 inches long. His head measures 39 cm.
Pappy and Grammy got Caden a BIG teddy bear. We decided to start taking a picture with Caden each month to see how much he is growing. Below are the pictures taken at 1 month and 2 months. Can you see him growing?

8 Weeks & More Alert
Caden will be 2 months old on Thursday. He is becoming more and more aware of his surroundings. He is also beginning to move around a lot more; his arms and legs that is. It is so fun to watch all of these changes in him.
Saturday evening we had a major diaper blow out. So instead of putting a new outfit on him, since it was almost bathtime, we put on his bathrobe. Isn't it adorable? Aunt Kay and Uncle Dick got this for him before he was born. We have been wanting to put it on him and this gave us the perfect opportunity. Now Andy has made it part of his bath routine!
Thanks for the cute outfit Dana, Tyler, & Owen!
Unfortunately not much to see out this window.
Make sure you check back at the end of the week to see his 2 month picture with his teddy bear!

One Spoiled Baby!!!
Wow! Where has the time gone? Caden is now 7 weeks old. He has been spoiled by all of his grandparents. As a matter of fact, after both set of grandparents left we noticed unusual fussiness for the next two days. I certainly do not think this is just a coincidence because he is normally not a fussy baby. He realized that there was a definite deficit in the number of hands to hold him! I have been wanting to do a post all week, but when you are the sole provider for a newborn (Andy is in the field), you don't have much time to spare! We are both looking forward to Daddy returning tomorrow (Friday)!
While our families were here we took advantage of the opportunity to get pictures taken with Caden. They are not the best because they were taken using a timer and sitting the camera on top of the TV. In both of the ones with all five of us, Andy and I seem much larger because we are closer to the camera.

We are looking forward to Aunt Courtney visiting in about three weeks! I am sure he will be getting spoiled again during her visit! The rest of our families are looking forward to getting their hands on him in May when we come home to prepare for Courtney's wedding in June!

Caden's First Bath
Last weekend Caden's umbilical cord FINALLY fell off. So after it healed we gave him his first bath on Tuesday evening. There is no question about it that he did NOT like it. Hopefully as he gets older he will enjoy it. My hope is that by this summer he will love water and will be able to enjoy spending time in at the pool!
Can it really be THAT bad?

Pappy & Grammy Visit
After spending about 16 hours in a plane over the course of 24 hours, Pappy and Grammy arrived to spend two weeks with their first grandson. They claim that even though the trip was long it was definately worth it. They seem to be enjoying spoiling Caden and are already wondering how they will ever be able to leave him after two weeks.

The Trials Begin...
Last night was a rough night. He had been sleeping good and waking up every 4 hours to eat. For some reason last night his diapers kept leaking. This has happened occasionally but it happened 4 times last night. That means 4 outfits in middle of the night. We had been using Pampers but switched to Huggies early this morning since we couldn't figure out why they were leaking. We still leaked through a Huggie but at least we knew why. Apparently switching diaper brands in the middle of the night when your half asleep is not smartest. They are built a little different and we didn't get a good seal around his leg. I guess today we will investigate the mystery of the leaky diapers more. Needless to say all the outfit changes made for a long and cranky night for Caden and us. My day actually started earlier though. I had a few outfit changes myself yesterday. In the morning Kelli had a check up at the doctors. The Dr. also wanted to check Caden's circumcision so after checking it I was putting a clean diaper on him when I was attacked by explosive mustard poop. I was standing back about a foot and half and got hit in my sweatshirt, jeans, and shoes. So I had to baby wipe myself off and head for home to get changed. Then before bed last night, he decided to hit me with explosive spit up. He was laying in my lap and spit up with such force it almost hit me in face. Luckily this accident only cost me another sweatshirt.
